Welcome to the NEWLY designed Shiocton Rifle Range. There are several changes that happened this past summer (2014) due to the walking trail that is being placed to the south of the rifle range. If you plan on visiting the range please be sure to check the website shiocton.org, parks department. You can also follow us on Shiocton Rifle Range Facebook page and like us to keep updated.
The Village of Shiocton has one of the few open to the public shooting ranges in the state. The range is fully within the Village limits and supported by our $5.00 donation. It is open from 7:00 a.m. to the ''official'' Shiocton sunset. The range consists of a 50 and 100, a 200/300/500 yard range (you can drive down with your trucks or cars), and handgun range (18 yards.) Shooting tables and stationary target stands are at each range. Paper targets and clothes pins are to be placed on the target stands by the shooters. No targets are to be placed between the tables and targets stands provided.
Occasionally the range will be reserved for special events and closed to the public. It will also be closed for maintenance and mowing though we try not to have all ranges to be closed at the same time.
Any closures will be posted here and on Facebook.
The handgun range is closed due to rounds bouncing back to the shooting line. 01/31/15
Handgun Range is closed due to the frozen berms. Ricochets are coming back to the tables (18yards.)
Handguns can only be used on the 50 yard range and shooting from table, only. (No stepping up to targets on the 50 yard range.) If your rounds are not impacting berm with whatever cal. you are using don’t use it. You will cause ricochets and all ranges will be closed.
We are working on a solution for the handgun range. Follow us on Facebook~ Shiocton Rifle Range or Shiocton.org.
We have tried to make the ranges as user friendly and safe as possible. It is up to the individual shooter to clean up their own mess and make sure things are ready for the next shooter. Doing this helps to ensure the range stays open to the public.
Donation boxes are set up at each range and donations are appreciated, $5 per shooter. All donations are put back into the range whether to buy material for targets, concrete pads, tables, flags, covered shelters, ect. OUR RANGE IS FUNDED SOLELY BY GRANTS AND YOUR DONATIONS!!!
There is also an archery range with multiple stations for different situations.
If you have any questions on the shooting ranges please call the Village of Shiocton at (920) 986-3415 Monday - Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
NEW!!!! PLEASE be familiar with the new rules. No targets are to be placed between the tables and the green or orange target stands furnished by the Rifle Range. You will need to bring your own paper targets to place on the stands. The rules are posted on the website, in the wood box located near the donation box on the rifle range, and on the ranges in the parking lot labeled “Take One”
Make sure if you are shooting at the target that is assigned to the table you are using. Example, table 4 target #4. No shooting across range.
The biggest change is you will not be allowed to bring in homemade or commercial bought targets. This includes spinners, exploding targets, cans, bottles, boxes, and fruit. Paper targets will be placed on the target stands, furnished by the range. Also the paper cannot hang off of the target frames. It is best to bring a clothespin or paperclip to hang the targets. Make sure you are removing your targets and picking up your spent rounds.
Shooting times will end at the ''Official'' Shiocton sunset time. A schedule can be found by searching Shiocton sunset set time on the internet. This will also be posted on a display board near the donation boxes.
No shotguns, AR 15's, or .223's on the handgun range.
While on the 200/300/500 yard range you must be shooting at the stationary targets provided. No placing targets on the ground or anywhere in between the steal target or Range targets that are furnished. Anything other will cause ricochets!!! No moving our targets.
Do not shoot across the road on the 200/300/500 yard range. When doing so you will be shooting directly at the walking trail or hunters in the woods.
Trucks and cars are permitted to drive down the new road. ATV’s are not recommended. Please use the flag as directed. The flag is to be raised when you enter the range and the last person leaving the range will lower the flag. The flag should not be raised and lowered as you are checking your targets.
NO ELECTRONICS ALLOWED TO BE SHOT AT THE RANGE!!! No glass, plastic, aluminum cans, fruit, etc. No clay targets, spinners, gongs, & exploding targets these are NOT allowed!!!
We are looking for donations to purchase shooting benches click here if interested
Be safe and enjoy.
